Methodist Hospital of Sacramento's Digestive Services Program includes the latest technology to detect, diagnose and treat all disorders affecting the digestive system, including gastric bypass surgery for patients suffering from severe obesity. Our team of highly-skilled gastroenterologists (doctors specialized in digestive services) and nursing staff deliver specialized care for both inpatients and outpatients in our Endoscopy Department.

Digestive services cover a range of health issues, such as: morbid obesity, liver, gastrointestinal (GI) and bowel diseases, pancreatic problems, digestive disorders, gall bladder illnesses and symptoms related to ulcers.

Our areas of expertise include:

  • Acid reflux disease/GERD
Millions of Americans suffer from GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), a painful disease with symptoms including heartburn, difficulty swallowing, chronic sore throat or cough, and more. Now, Methodist Hospital's Digestive Services Department offers hope.
  • Swallowing disorders
  • Ulcers
  • Cancer of the esophagus
  • Hiatal hernias
  • Colorectal cancer
  • Polyps
  • Screening exams

Outpatient services are available for any of the endoscopic (non-surgical) procedures listed above. However, if you are admitted to the hospital, these procedures can be performed at that time as well. Most procedures are completed within 30 minutes and patients are given appropriate sedation so they experience little or no discomfort.
