Acute/Inpatient Rehabilitation
Methodist Hospital's Acute/Inpatient Rehabilitation Services help patients recover as fully as possible in a supportive atmosphere following surgery, stroke, head injury, major multiple trauma or other disabling conditions. At Methodist Hospital, we emphasize abilities, not disabilities. Every member of our team - doctors, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, social workers, case managers and speech therapists - is highly skilled, experienced and dedicated to quality patient care.
The speech therapists provide cognitive-linguistic training, and evaluate and treat patients with impaired swallowing or eating disorders. Our occupational therapy staff provides training in the activities of daily living for patients in preparation to return home. Our physical therapy staff addresses all levels of mobility impairments and wound care. Methodist Hospital's total joint replacement program is very successful in preparing patients to go home and smoothly transition to the next level of rehabilitation.
This intensive program is results-oriented; giving you the treatment and training you need to resume an active and satisfying life. Regardless of your diagnosis, we provide the shortest pathway home by:
- Minimizing disability
- Improving independence
- Promoting general health
- Developing optimal psychological and social adjustment
- Providing a smooth transition to the next level of rehabilitation and care
