Community Wellness Programs
Methodist Hospital's Rehabilitation Services team is committed to community wellness and offers a variety of programs to patients in the Elk Grove, Laguna, south Sacramento and Delta communities. More than 1,200 community wellness classes are offered at Methodist every year. All classes are held at the Methodist Outpatient Rehabilitation Center located in the Bruceville Terrace building next to Methodist Hospital. Classes are 60 minutes and are offered twice a week. Class participants must be able to follow group instruction and exercise independently. Trained instructors, who are supervised and coordinated by one of our licensed physical therapists, teach all wellness programs. Individuals who wish to participate must complete the registration process, have their physician’s permission, and be able to understand and sign the participation agreement each quarter.
Arthrobics - a land-based group exercise program for adults managing arthritis and other medical conditions. This class is designed to meet your individual health needs to increase strength, endurance and flexibility and is tailored for adults who could benefit from gentle aerobic conditioning exercises. Each session of lasts for three months.
Waterobics - a pool-based exercise program for adults with arthritis or other medical conditions offering low-impact group exercises in warm water (94 degrees). The program is designed for adults who could benefit from and enjoy mild aquatic and gentle aerobic conditioning exercises, particularly individuals with arthritis, fibromyalgia and joint pain. The depth of the pool ranges from 3 to 4 feet. Each session of lasts for three months.
Maternally Fit - a pool-based exercise program designed especially for expectant mothers designed specifically for expectant mothers who are past their first trimester of pregnancy. This low-impact warm water exercise program allows moms to be to exercise at their own pace and helps women keep fit and improve their stamina during pregnancy, benefiting the health of both mom and baby.
