Community Wellness Programs


Methodist Hospital's Rehabilitation Services team is committed to community wellness and offers a variety of programs to patients in the Elk Grove, Laguna, south Sacramento and Delta communities. More than 1,200 community wellness classes are offered at Methodist every year, including:

  • Arthrobics ~ a land-based group exercise program for adults managing arthritis and other medical conditions
    Arthrobics Arthrobics is a 45-minute biweekly group exercise program designed to meet your individual healthcare needs to increase strength, endurance and flexibility. It is located at the Methodist Outpatient Rehabilitation Center and is tailored for adults who could benefit from gentle aerobic conditioning exercises. Class participants must be able to follow group instruction independently.

    Classes are conducted by trained instructors who are supervised and coordinated by one of our licensed physical therapists. Individuals who wish to participate in the program must complete the registration process, have their doctor's permission, and be able to understand and sign the participation agreement each quarter. Each session of Arthrobics lasts for three months.
     
     
  • Waterobics ~ a pool-based exercise program for adults with arthritis or other medical conditions
    Waterobics is a 45-minute biweekly, pool-based program at the Methodist Outpatient Rehabilitation Center offering low-impact group exercises in warm water (94 degrees). The program is designed for adults who could benefit from and enjoy mild aquatic and gentle aerobic conditioning exercises, particularly individuals with arthritis, fibromyalgia and joint pain. The depth of the pool ranges from 3 to 4 feet.

    Class participants must be able to follow group instruction in the water independently. Classes are conducted by trained instructors who are supervised and coordinated by one of our licensed physical therapists. Individuals who wish to participate in the program must complete the registration process, have their doctor's permission, and be able to understand and sign the participation agreement each quarter. Each session of Waterobics lasts for three months.
     
     
  • Maternally Fit ~ a pool-based exercise program designed especially for expectant mothers
    Maternally Fit is a pool-based exercise program at the Methodist Outpatient Rehabilitation Center designed specifically for expectant mothers who are past their first trimester of pregnancy. For 45 minutes, twice a week, moms-to-be can exercise at their own pace. This low-impact warm water exercise program helps women keep fit and improve their stamina during pregnancy, benefiting the health of both mom and baby.

    Classes are conducted by trained instructors who are supervised and coordinated by one of our licensed physical therapists. Individuals who wish to participate in the program must complete the registration process, have their doctor's permission, and be able to understand and sign the participation agreement each quarter.
