Sacramento, Jan. 16, 2008 – Methodist Hospital received the 2007 Business of the Year award at the Leadership Recognition and Installation of Officers and Directors banquet on Jan. 11 hosted by the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce.
The hospital's Chief Operating Officer, Veronica Knudson, who accepted the award on behalf of the hospital, was recently appointed to the board of directors for the Elk Grove Chamber of Commerce and was sworn in that evening as she begins her board member duties.
"Receiving this award is a great achievement and we are all very gratified to be honored in this way," said Knudson. "Methodist has been a fixture in this community for the last 34 years and we look forward to maintaining this level of commitment in the years to come as we continue to care for our community."
The Business of the Year award is presented annually by the Elk Grove Chamber to a member business that demonstrates leadership in its business practices, as well as in the community. "The hospital leadership and staff have proven to be a benefit to the business community and the community at large, and Methodist lives up to all the criteria set forth for this award," said Francisco Rodriquez, outgoing Chamber Board Chair during the award presentation.
This is the fourth year the Elk Grove Chamber has recognized a business that has made a difference in the local economy and the community as a whole. As Business of the Year, Methodist Hospital will be recognized throughout the year by the Chamber.
